School Attendance Challenges

October 14, 2025 @ 4:00 pm EDT

This webinar explores school attendance in Canada—what it is, why it matters, and how it affects families. While attendance challenges often stem from factors beyond a family’s control, caregivers can still play an important role in supporting their child. The session will share information and resources to help families as they navigate these challenges.

Natasha McBrearty (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist with more than 20 years of experience in the child and youth mental health sector. She is currently completing her PhD in Population Health at the University of Ottawa, where her research focuses on the intersection of mental health and school attendance. Beyond her professional and academic work, Natasha is the mother of three children, including one who struggled with school attendance—an experience that continues to shape her passion and perspective.
