About Us
Parents and Caregivers for Mental Health (PCMH), formerly Parents for Children’s Mental Health, is a resource hub for parents and caregivers whose children have mental health challenges. Founded 30 years ago, PCMH’s commitment to support, education, and empowerment has guided the organization’s work and dedication to families. Through meaningful engagement and family-centered care, PCMH has empowered families so their voices are heard and recognized as experts.
In 2020, PCMH became a program of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO). Together with CMHO, the Family Partnerships Team at PCMH works to advance family partnerships, family engagement, and family peer support in child and youth mental health. We believe children, youth, and their families managing mental health challenges deserve extreme respect and validation. We are dedicated to improving the lives of these families through support, education, and empowerment.
Caregiver Connection
Located in communities across Ontario, our Caregiver Connection groups meet regularly and provide parents and caregivers a comfortable and confidential space to connect with others, feel heard, and get help navigating the child and youth mental health system.
Trusted Resources
We know how overwhelming it can be looking for mental health information online. That’s why PCMH curates evidence-based resources to help families and those working with kids to find trustworthy, reliable information.
Our Pillars
Support. Educate. Empower.
Support
PCMH has a network of Caregiver Connection groups across the province that are run by volunteers with lived experience, dedicated to supporting families by providing peer support. We provide support for families by providing timely, accurate, concrete, and appropriate information and compassionate guidance.
Educate
Our Caregiver Connection groups and trusted resource hub promote public understanding of and respect for families who are facing the unique challenges of raising and caring for children and youth with mental health challenges.
Empower
PCMH aims to empower families by building strong support groups, networks, and partnerships to inform, educate, and mobilize families to raise their voice in public and with government to advocate for child and youth mental health services that are family-centered and seamlessly delivered.
