About Us

The Family Care Centre by Parents for Children’s Mental Health (PCMH) and Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO) is a resource hub for parents and caregivers whose children have mental health challenges.
Founded 30 years ago, PCMH’s commitment to support, education, and empowerment has guided the organization’s work and dedication to families. Through meaningful engagement and family-centred care, PCMH has empowered families so their voices are heard and recognized as experts.
In 2020, PCMH became a program of Children’s Mental Health Ontario. By working together, we can advance family partnerships, family engagement and family peer support in child and youth mental health.
We believe children, youth and their families suffering from mental health challenges deserve extreme respect and validation. We are dedicated to improving the lives of these families through support, education and empowerment.

Our Pillars

Support. Educate. Empower.

Support

To support families with children struggling with mental illness, PCMH has a network of support chapters across the province that are run by volunteers with lived experience, dedicated to supporting families by providing peer support. We provide support for families facing the challenges of child and youth mental health disorders and illness. We provide timely, accurate, concrete and appropriate information and compassionate guidance.

Education

Our peer support chapters promote public understanding of children and youth mental health disorders and illness and respect for families who are facing the unique challenges of raising and caring for children and youth with mental health disorders and illnesses.

Empower

PCMH aims to empower families by building strong support groups, networks and partnerships to inform, educate and mobilize families to raise their voice in public and with government, to advocate for child and youth mental health services that are family-centred and seamlessly delivered.
